Chief resident to cover landmark breast cancer trials

Dr. Ashley Griffin Ray, chief resident, will give the UMMC Department of Surgery Grand Rounds presentation, "Breast Cancer: Review of Landmark Trials and Future Treatment," from 8-9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, in room CW106 of the Classroom Wing.

Physiology prof to investigate birth weight, kidney, HTN

Dr. Barbara Alexander, professor of physiology and biophysics and director of the Analytical and Assay Core, will give the Department of Physiology and Biophysics presentation, "Low Birth Weight, the Kidney and Hypertension: Does Sex Matter?" from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Johns Hopkins professor to gather protein consensus

Dr. Doug Barrick, professor of biophysics at Johns Hopkins University, will give the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology presentation, "The Consensus Approach as a Means to Create Hyper-Stable Functional Proteins," at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, in classroom 3A.

UAB nutrition scientist to examine neutrophils, ischemic heart

Dr. Prabhakara R. Nagareddy, assistant professor of nutrition sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will give the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology seminar, "Neutrophils in the Ischemic Heart," at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, in room 6A.

Case Western obesity expert to review therapeutic approaches

Dr. Bartolome Burguera, professor of medicine, director of obesity programs and executive medical director of the National Obesity and Diabetes Research Center at Tradition, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, will present "Interdisciplinary Therapeutic Approach to Severe Obesity" at noon on Thursday, June 14, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

The presentation is sponsored by the Mississippi Center for Obesity Research, the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research and the Cardiorenal and Metabolic Diseases Research Center. Dr. Robert J. Spinner, professor of neurosurgery, orthopaedics and anatomy at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, will give the Neuroscience Grand Rounds 2018 Orlando J. Andy Lecture, "The Evolving Role of Nerve Biopsy," from 8-9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, in the Bank Plus Conference Center on the second floor atrium mall of the Methodist Rehabilitation Center.
